Going for a Walk

Is my dog suitable for boarding at Lone Wolf?
Dogs must be spayed/neutered and over 12 months old. They must mix well with other dogs and people and be housetrained. Living happily in a home environment without demonstrating problem behaviours (such as  scent marking in the home or excessive chewing) is also key. Dogs must be up to date with their vaccinations, flea and worming treatments and not suffer from separation anxiety.

What are the vaccination requirements?
All dogs MUST have up to date vaccinations for canine parvovirus, canine distemper, infectious canine hepatitis (adenovirus), leptospirosis. The vaccination certificate must be given to Lone Wolf for the duration of the stay when the booking commences. Vaccination against kennel cough (bordetella bronchiseptica or canine parainfluenza virus) is recommended, but not mandatory. Titre testing is accepted as an alternative to vaccinations, but the Leptospirosis booster should still be taken. Please discuss this with us prior to booking.

What do I need to bring for my dogs stay?
Bring enough food for the duration of the dog/s stay, their vaccination record or titre test documents, food and water bowls, beds, bedding, collar, lead/harness, grooming equipment, crate (where applicable) and any required medication. It is not recommended to bring toys from home due the potential for damage by other boarding dogs.  IMPORTANT: Dogs that arrive without proof of vaccination or proof of titre testing will not be accepted for boarding, It is a legal requirement that dogs wear a collar and boarding is no exception. During their stay, dogs will wear an ID tag attached to their collar with Lone Wolf contact details.

Are large breed dogs accepted?
Yes (apart from XL Bully breed dogs). We are experienced and qualified in large breed welfare. Our home and garden are spacious so there's plenty of room for large breed dogs. Varied countryside walks and scheduled enrichment time means their exercise needs will be met and we'll keep their brain stimulated too.

I have a high-energy breed. Will their exercise needs be met?
Yes! We offer countryside walks over varied terrain and put in proper Derbyshire miles!  In addition to this, we have scheduled enrichment time and plenty of playtime in the garden too. We can offer additonal walks at your request. Just contact us and let us know your dogs requirements.

Are dogs walked off the lead?
We prioritise the safety and well-being of all dogs in our care. Therefore, we do not walk dogs off the lead under any circumstances. This policy is non-negotiable, and we do not provide a disclaimer form for customers to authorise off-leash activities. The garden is spacious and secure and in addition to their on-lead walks, dogs will have plenty of time off the lead to exercise and play within the garden.

I need to cancel. Can I get a refund?

Cancellations made more than 30 days from the start of the dog’s stay are eligible for a refund, less a 15% cancellation fee.

Cancellations made less than 30 days from the start of the dog’s stay are non-refundable.

Why is full payment taken upfront?

The extra administration involved with taking deposits, raising multiple invoices and chasing payments takes a significant amount of time which I feel is better spent making sure the dogs in my care have a 5* experience. Customers have the reassurance that all payments are taken via PayPal for their own security.

Can you accommodate raw fed dogs?

Yes, absolutely. A large proportion of our boarding guests are raw fed. We have dedicated freezing and preparation facilities for raw food.

Where do the dogs sleep?

We aim to replicate your dogs home routine and this includes where they sleep too! The most common sleeping places for our boarding dogs  (as requested by their owners) are; upstairs in a bedroom, on the sofas or on their beds in the living room, the snug or our sunroom, or in an open crate in the kitchen.

When can I drop off and collect my dog?

Dog drop off & collection is available in the morning between 8am and 9am, or in the evening between 5pm and 6pm. To minimise disruption to our boarding dogs, we do not allow drop off or collection outside of these times. If you are running late, please let us know as soon as possible so we can discuss your options with you.
